1. Functions

Multi-Functional: Tatung TPC-6LB Electric Pressure Cooker is a multi-functional cooker. Besides pressure cooking, you can use this versatile appliance as a Rice Cooker, Porridge Maker, Steamer, Warmer, and Soup & Stew Maker. Time to say goodbye to your rice cooker! 😛

Preset Programs: This model offers 10 preset cooking functions + 3 texture selections.

• 10 Preset Cooking Functions: Stew, Meat/Chicken, Soup, Bean/Tendons, Potato, Brown Rice, Rice, Congee, Porridge, Steam
• 3 Texture Selections: Faint scent (reduces cooking time), Standard, Strong fragrance (increases cooking time)

Delay Timer: Amazing feature if you like to plan your meal ahead! You can delay the cooking for up to 24 hours by setting the timer. Once the cooking is done, it’ll automatically switch to keep warm mode until you’re ready to serve the food.

Saute/Browning Function: A downside is this model lacks a Sauté/Browning function. We recommended Tatung to add this function to their future models. 🙂

2. Control Panel

The TPC-6LB’s LED display with a digital touch pad panel is large, user-friendly, and straight forward. Each preset cooking function has their own button. You can also manually select a cooking time (up to 99-minutes) by pressing the Cook Time Demand button.

3. Mechanical Ergonomics Design

Venting Knob: The venting knob’s design is easy-to-spot with a light grey arrow pointing towards the venting/sealing position. However, having 2 venting positions (left & right) make it a bit hard to tell if the knob locked properly in sealing position (center). *Tatung’s newer model TPC-6MDB has addressed this issue.

Floating Valve: As you can see from the above picture, it’s difficult to tell if the pressure cooker is up to pressure with the floating valve’s design. *Tatung’s newer model TPC-6MDB replaced the floating valve with a visible red valve that sticks out.

Lid Cover: As for the lid cover, it’s sturdy and quality built. One area for improvement is the cover handle. We found it slightly difficult to tilt the cover away from us when we open it. *Tatung’s newer model TPC-6MDB has addressed this issue.

Exterior: We appreciate how the two handles on both left and right make it easier to carry the pressure cooker.

4. Inner Pot

We are hardcore stainless steel fans! Since this pressure cooker’s removable inner pot is made of high quality 3-ply stainless steel, it’s durable and you don’t have to worry about health concerns from non-stick coating. This definitely added bonus points for us!

5. Cooking Performance & Efficiency

We conducted a Standard Performance Test Run:

Altitude: close to sea level
Liquid: 1 cup cold running tap water test
Pressure: High Pressure
Result: 5 minutes 57 seconds to get up to pressure
