1. What’s new with Instant Pot Pro Crisp?
This Pro Crisp model comes with 2 interchangeable lids – a Pressure Cooker Lid (same as Duo Evo Plus) and an Air Fryer Lid.
Basically, think of the Pro Crisp model as Duo Evo Plus with a more powerful Air Fryer Lid (compared to Duo Crisp or standalone Air Fryer Lid).
Multipurpose Stainless Steel Inner Pot
The durable 18/8 stainless steel inner pot has two silicone handles & a flat bottom. It’s stovetop-friendly and oven-safe (up to 450°F).
1. Stovetop-Friendly & Oven-Safe: You can use this inner pot on electric, ceramic, gas, and induction cooktops. It’s also oven-safe up to 450°F.
2. Flat Bottom: You won’t have a problem with oil running to the sides of the pot anymore. The bonded tri-ply flat bottom design will provide better contact for the heating source and food, so it should yield better results for searing and sauteing.
3. Easy Transfer: The two silicone handles on the pot stay cool to touch (after sauteing or pressure cooking) so you can easily transfer the inner pot in and out of the Instant Pot.
4. Lock and Load: Your inner pot won’t twist & turn anymore when stirring or sauteing your food in the Instant Pot.
Pressure Cooking Lid
The pressure cooking lid is dishwasher safe and has an auto sealing function.
The steam release cover will disperse the steam in a more gentle way compared to the previous Instant Pot models with the manual Venting Knob. This feature is especially great for those with children or pets.
New Air Fryer Lid
Pro Crisp’s new Air Fryer lid is improved from the previous generation (shown above). Its temperature can go up to as high as 450°F (232°C) for air frying and as low as 70°F (21°C) for dehydration.
The previous Instant Pot Air Fryer Lids have a temperature range of 105°F (41°C) – 400°F (204°C).
User-Friendly Interface
Instant Pot’s designs are getting better every generation. Just like the Duo Evo Plus, the Instant Pot Pro Crisp features pressable buttons, a turning dial, and an easy to read LCD display.
2. Is the Instant Pot Pro Crisp Worth it?
We’re still waiting for our Pro Crisp sample to arrive, but here are our initial thoughts on its main functions – pressure cooking, air frying, and sous vide.
a. Pressure Cooking Function
Great! Pro Crisp’s pressure cooking function & performance should be very similar to Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus or any other Instant Pot Pressure Cookers. They produce great, consistent, reliable, & delicious results.
b. Air Frying Function
Pro Crisp’s Air Fryer Lid should crisp better than the Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid and Duo Crisp‘s Air Fryer Lid because of the higher temperature output.
We’ll need to conduct a direct comparison experiment with a standalone air fryer to see how their performances differ.
c. Sous Vide Function
If Instant Pot Pro Crisp’s Sous Vide function is similar to any of the previous Instant Pot models, it’ll work okay compared to a standalone Sous Vide Immersion Circulator. Since the water does not circulate like an immersion circulator, the temperature will be off by ±5℉.
Our Thoughts on Instant Pot Pro Crisp
This Instant Pot Pro Crisp Pressure Cooker & Air Fryer is great, especially when it has combined the features from 2 awesome Instant Pot models – Duo Evo Plus & Duo Crisp.
It’ll solve your problem if you’re struggling whether to purchase an Instant Pot or an Air Fryer. Pro Crisp is also great if you want to save counter space by avoiding to buy 2 separate kitchen appliances.
Here are the options if you want an Instant Pot that can pressure cook & air fry:
- Instant Pot Pressure Cooker 6qt (compatible models) + Standalone Air Fryer Lid
- Instant Pot Duo Crisp 6qt, 8qt
- Instant Pot Pro Crisp 8qt
Since the Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid is currently only available for compatible 6qt Instant Pots, if you need to cook in larger quantities, Duo Crisp 8qt & Pro Crisp 8qt are your only options at this moment.
From our experience, the bigger capacity (8qt) is certainly helpful because you can air fry bigger chunks of food or more food at once rather than in multiple batches.
Finally, we’re also excited to test out Pro Crisp’s upgraded Air Fryer Lid. Can’t wait to taste the difference with the higher temperature output!
