First, press the “Saute” button to “Sauté More” to heat up the Instant Pot.
Wait until the Instant Pot says “HOT”.
*Pro Tip: Make sure the Instant Pot is as hot as it can be to induce a Maillard reaction.
Melt 2 tbsp (28g) unsalted butter or olive oil in the inner pot, and ensure to coat the unsalted butter or oil all over the whole bottom of the pot.
Place the shrimp in Instant Pot, then make sure all the shrimp are directly touching the Instant Pot (as shown in the photo below).
You don’t have to stir the shrimp or anything.
Let the shrimp cook for 2 minutes on one side before flipping them over, then cook the other side for 1.5 minutes.
*Note: If your shrimp are bigger or smaller than 26/30, the cooking time will be a bit longer or shorter. Adjust accordingly.
Add Garlic & Soy Sauce
Add minced garlic and 2 tsp (10ml) – 1 tbsp (15ml) regular soy sauce in Instant Pot.
With a wooden spoon, saute and scrub all the flavorful brown bits off the bottom. Do this for 30 seconds, then we’re done!
Soy Sauce: Why 2 Teaspoons to 1 Tablespoon of Regular Soy Sauce?
We provided a range of 2 teaspoons (10ml) to 1 tablespoon (15ml) of Regular Soy Sauce because the best amount to use varies depending on your bottle of soy sauce. Every batch of soy sauce (even with the same brand) can vary in flavor, aroma, texture, & thickness. So it’s best to taste & adjust according to the saltiness of your bottle of soy sauce.
Taste, Garnish, & Serve Shrimp
Taste one of the shrimp to make sure it’s seasoned & cooked properly.
*Pro Tip: To avoid overcooking the shrimp, quickly pour them on a serving plate.
Finally, garnish the garlic butter shrimp with finely chopped Italian parsley.
Enjoy your Tasty Garlic Butter Instant Pot Shrimp!
